Every piece in this collection is cut from full-grain leather sourced from Seidel tannery. Full-grain is the top outermost layer of the hide, left intact with all its natural fibre. It is the strongest, most durable grade of leather and the only grade that develops a rich patina as it ages.

The Leather Deskpad and Leather Mousepad are cut from 9oz belt-weight hide, the same thick stock we use on our leather belts. The Leather Passport Holder, Leather Toiletry Bag, Leather Pencil Case, and Leather Valet Tray use the same full-grain stock sized to their build. We do not use top-grain (sanded to hide flaws and weaker as a result), bonded leather, or genuine leather (glued scraps that typically split within 1 to 2 years).

Construction varies by piece and we build each one to the strength it actually needs. The Leather Deskpad and the Leather Mousepad are single slabs of 9oz full-grain leather, cut clean with no stitching and no surface treatment on the edges. Nothing to catch on your keyboard or mouse.

The Leather Valet Tray is a single piece of leather that folds up into a tray shape using four solid-brass snaps at the corners; no stitching holds the shape, the snaps do. The Leather Toiletry Bag, Leather Pencil Case, and Leather Passport Holder are saddle-stitched by hand with waxed thread, the same build used on our wallets. Coasters are hand-cut and either blank, hand-pressed, or foil-stamped, no stitching needed on a single-layer disc.

Each piece is cut to a usable desk size rather than an arbitrary marketing number. The Leather Deskpad measures 35.4 by 11.8 inches, wide enough for a full keyboard alongside a mouse. The Leather Mousepad measures 10 by 8.25 inches, sized for a standard mouse with a bit of wrist rest. The Leather Valet Tray gives you 6 by 6 inches of usable space when snapped and lays flat for travel.

Coasters are 4 inches (round or square). The Leather Passport Holder fits any nationality of passport plus up to 6 cards. The Leather Toiletry Bag measures 8.5 by 4 by 4.5 inches. The Leather Pencil Case measures 9 by 2.5 inches when closed, enough for a fountain pen and a handful of mechanical pencils.

Yes. Our Leather Mousepad is tested with optical mice and they track precisely on the smooth, matte full-grain surface. Leather is a non-reflective, uniform texture, exactly what an optical sensor wants, so cursor movement stays accurate from edge to edge. The 9oz belt-weight hide keeps the pad planted on the desk without adhesive, so the mouse tracks and the pad does not slide.

Most laser mice also track well on our leather, but a minority of high-DPI gaming laser mice rely on a fabric weave for micro-adjustments and may feel different on leather. If you use a standard office or work-from-home mouse, tracking is not a concern. If you are a competitive gamer with a very high-DPI laser sensor, you may prefer fabric for that specific use case.

The deskpad and mousepad are single slabs of leather with no stitching, no sharp corners, and no hard plastic backing that could scratch a desk. The valet tray rests on its own leather base, no metal feet, no rubber that could mark a wood finish.

Full-grain leather sits heavy on a desk without adhesive and without slipping. If you routinely set wet drinks down, pair the pieces with our leather coasters so moisture never reaches the leather underneath. For long-term care of the desk surface itself, a leather slab is more protective than a bare keyboard and mouse, which can scuff lacquer and oil finishes over years of daily use.

For routine cleaning, wipe the piece down with a slightly damp cloth to lift dust and drink rings, then let it air-dry flat at room temperature. Never put any full-grain leather desk accessory in a washing machine or dishwasher. Heat and detergent strip the natural oils that keep the leather supple.

For deep conditioning, work a pea-sized amount of our Popov Leather Care balm into the piece with a soft cloth in small circles once or twice a year. That is enough to keep thick full-grain leather supple for decades. Avoid direct heat like hair dryers, radiators, or a laptop exhaust vent. Leather shrinks and cracks when force-dried.

Every piece in this collection is backed by a lifetime guarantee. If the leather cracks, a solid-brass snap on the valet tray stops working, a YKK zipper on the toiletry bag ever fails, a stitch gives on the pencil case or passport holder, or any edge splits under normal use, we repair or replace the piece free of charge.

The guarantee does not cover intentional damage, abuse, or natural ageing effects like patina, softening, water marks, and surface scratches, those are features of full-grain leather, not defects. Some coaster packs support foil-stamping already; check the specific product page for availability.

The deskpad and mousepad do not currently offer engraving. For pieces that do support it, the mark is laser-engraved, not printed, so it deepens with the patina of the full-grain leather over time and will never fade. Personalized pieces ship on the same schedule as non-engraved ones.
